Harden's Restaurant Guide Finds Support for Smokefree Air
Harden's London Restaurants Guide-- now in its 13th year-- found overwhelming
support for smokefree restaurants among its readers. In a new poll, Harden's
found that 63.4% of those surveyed want restaurants to be completely smokefree.
28% want at least a NO SMOKING area. Only 8.6% favored no restrictions.
"It's taken us aback", said co-editor Peter Harden, "how little real division of
opinion there is on the smoking issue. Nearly two-thirds of regular
restaurant-goers just want it banned, and most the rest want to be guaranteed a
no-smoking area. It's odd that our 'listening' government seems to have set
itself so clearly against a change for which there is such overwhelming support
among customers."
The survey was conducted between November 27 and December 1.
