If Issue 4 passes, all local smokefree workplace laws (past, present, and
future) will become null and void. Back to the smoke ages... hopefully not!

Proponents of Issue 4, Smoke Less Ohio, argue it is the common-sense alternative
to the public-health problems resulting from secondhand smoke. To the contrary.
Issue 4 offers a weaker proposal that would leave the employees and patrons in
many businesses in the smoke, if you will, and as vulnerable as ever to the
effects of secondhand smoke.
We recommend voters say No to Issue 4. . . .
Further, if Issue 4 were to pass, it would make invalid immediately anti-smoking
protections that are currently in effect in 21 Ohio cities, including Columbus
and Toledo. It would also block localities from enacting smokefree laws. Worse
still, if both issues pass, Issue 4 as the constitutional amendment would trump
Issue 5, which offers the better protection against foul air for everybody. Vote
No on Issue 4.
