Governor Napolitano Endorses Prop 201, Criticizes Prop 206
Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano announced her support for Proposition 201, a
smokefree workplace ballot initiative sponsored by the American Cancer Society
and other health groups. At the same time, she criticized Proposition 206, a
tobacco funded initiative that would repeal all Arizona smokefree workplace laws
and replace them with a weak state law.
Proposition 201 is backed by the American Cancer Society. Proposition 206 is
backed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
Polls show the two propositions "neck and neck."
