Voters beware. There's yet another attempt to confuse you Tuesday with two state
issues involving smoking bans in public places.

Issue 4, ironically known as "Smoke Less Ohio," actually expands public smoking
in towns such as Newark, Granville and Heath by overturning all 21 local smoking
bans across Ohio.

This constitutional amendment would allow smoking in separate areas of
restaurants, most bars, bingo and bowling facilities and a number of other
public places while prohibiting it in all other public spaces.

Backers of the issue, including major tobacco companies, are trying to protect
their core customer base. . . .

Issue 4 means again inhaling and smelling smoke at your favorite diner, while
Issue 5 keeps the air clear.

Thus, we urge voters to reject Issue 4 and vote yes on Issue 5.

It's the right thing to do.
