Call to Action
Amendment 6 Implementation in Jeopardy!
Recently, the Florida Senate's Select Committee on Constitutional Amendment
Implementation issued recommendations for enacting Amendment 6 that are not
consistent with the intent of the amendment and possibly even weaker than
the current law. This week, the Florida House of Representatives Committee
on Business Regulation, Subcommittee on Trades, Professions, & Regulated
Business will draft its own recommendations. We need your help to urge the
legislators listed below to support legislation that implements Amendment 6
in way that gives real meaning and effect to the intent of the amendment and
protects as many people as possible.
Action Requested: Phone calls and personal letters or notes (hand-written if
possible) to Senators and Representatives listed below. These legislators
are on committees that are responsible for drafting legislation to implement
Amendment 6.
Message: "I am one of the 71% or 3.5 million Florida voters who voted to
protect public health from the health hazards of secondhand smoke, I urge
you to support strong legislation that implements Amendment 6 in way that
gives real meaning and effect to the intent of the amendment and protects
as many people as possible."
