Urge VA Gov. Kaine to support Smokefree Workplaces Bill
URGE VA. GOV. KAINE TO SUPPORT SMOKEFREE WORKPLACES BILL
This week, the Virginia Senate passed SB 648 (the Virginia Smokefree
Bill) with a vote of 21-18. The bill would make virtually all workplace
- including bars and restaurants - smokefree.
Later this week, the bill will move to the House of Delegates, where we
face an uphill battle. Unfortunately, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine has said
he opposes the bill.
Please email, fax or call Gov. Kaine and ask him to support the Va.
smokefree workplaces bill. Remind him that secondhand smoke causes
disease in nonsmokers and that 11 states and the District of Columbia
have passed similar measures.
