Dear Smokefree DC Supporters,
The primary election for mayoral and Council races will be here soon
(Sept. 12). Smokefree DC has endorsed the following candidates:
Mayor: Adrian Fenty
Council Chair: Kathy Patterson
At-Large Councilmember: Phil Mendelson
Ward 1 Councilmember: Jim Graham
Ward 3 Councilmember: Sam Brooks
Ward 5 Councilmember: Kathy Henderson
Ward 6 Councilmember: Curtis Etherly
Please keep these names in mind when you go to vote. Although the D.C.
Council earlier this year passed a smokefree workplace law that applies
to bars and restaurants, it won't be fully implemented until January,
when a new mayor and Council take office. The mayor responsible for
implementing the law, and the Council has the power to change it. It is
imperative that we have a mayor and a majority of Councilmembers who

We urge you to help these candidates: Donate to them, volunteer in their
phone banks, walk door-to-door for them, offer a few hours on Election
Day. Never been involved in politics before? It's easy and fun! Just

ADAMS-MORGAN DAY
Next Sunday, September 10 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 PM, volunteers
representing Smokefree DC will be distributing voter cards that list our
endorsed candidates. The street festival along 18th Street NW is just
two days before the primary, so politics will be in the air. Consider
