All workers deserve a safe, healthy, smokefree workplace. Bar workers deserve just as much protection as restaurant workers and office workers.

A smokefree workplace law should be comprehensive - it should include bars and restaurants. Do not allow for exemptions.

Sadly, DC has one of the nation's weakest worker protection laws when it comes to secondhand smoke. DC law still permits smoking in hospitals and day care centers!

Every peer-reviewed study shows that smokefree air is good for business. New York City has gained 1,500 new hospitality industry jobs since going smokefree in March of 2003.

The right to breathe is more important than the right to pollute.
